You are looking at a completely original and complete Michell transcriptor hydraulic reference turntable. Circa 1968. Possibly the most iconic turntable made. It was featuring in A Clockwork Orange. This deck has not been tampered with or upgraded even the phono leads are original! . Extremely rare to find. It still has the two brushes, one for the stylus and other for the record, these look hardly worn. The drive belt is a little slack but it spins up to the correct rpm. The on / off switch works without fault and the discrete red light in the belt guide comes on. The condition is very good. The whole deck could do with a strip down and clean although it has been tested and it all works as it should. The main problem is DUST! It has been is a cupboard for the last 40 years. The brushed aluminium has a hazy yellow but this cleans off (I tried a small section).

In 1969 Stanley Kubrick visited the Borehamwood factory and asked if he could purchase a Hydraulic Reference to use in his latest film project A Clockwork Orange.
